You play as Beckett, a detective nearing retirement, sent to investigate missing persons in the abandoned quarry town of Howard Hill. The story kicks off with a grim reminder that not every day is good. After arriving, you split from your partner Fairchild to search the deserted site alone. Strange events unfold quickly as you dig deeper into the secrets hidden within the quarries and nearby neighborhood. The gameplay focuses on solving puzzles and uncovering clues while navigating a setting where violent crimes once shut down operations. You must find the truth about the young girl who vanished without a trace. The atmosphere feels heavy with the weight of past tragedies, making every shadow seem suspicious. Players can track their progress through community ratings that highlight the game's effective tension building. Poor Rolemodel crafted a single player experience that relies on storytelling rather than jump scares. Many users note how the quiet moments do more to unsettle them than sudden scares. The setting itself acts as a character, with its history of disappearances lingering in every corner. It is a straightforward adventure for those who prefer narrative driven mysteries over combat.
Not all days are great days. Sometimes.. They're very VERY bad days. Howard Hill was a quarry town, built in the 90s, and eventually abandoned shortly after the surrounding factories and neighborhood came up. Violent crimes and missing persons lead to the shutdown of the quarry, and the people moved on. It laid deserted for years, only ever coming to attention when people would mysteriously disappear. Beckett, a nearly retiring local detective, and his partner Fairchild, are tasked to investigate Howard Hill for any evidence of the disappearance of a young girl. When the two detectives get on-site, they split up to check the place out. That's when things start getting strange.
