About

Heartomics: Lost Count mixes bullet-hell shooting with visual novel storytelling. You play as a nameless hero pursued by amnesia, guided by three companions through a loop of combat and memory recovery. Gameplay switches between frantic danmaku shooter sequences and dialogue-driven scenes where choices influence the narrative. Each battle clears a path to forgotten moments, unlocking story fragments that recontextualize past events. The pacing leans into abrupt shifts between action and introspection, requiring quick reflexes and selective decision-making. The game carved a niche for itself after 2016 release, appealing to players who enjoy nonlinear storytelling wrapped in intense gameplay. While not a mainstream hit, it maintains a steady following on PC platforms for its risk-reward structure. Over 80% of user reviews note the unconventional blend of genres, with many praising the way combat and character interactions feed into each other. Its low price and distinct hybrid design make it a curiosity for fans of experimental indie games.

Storyline

Heartomics: Lost Count is a danmaku visual novel hybrid. The story is about "Hero", a male protagonist who has lost his memories. He is accompanied by three beautiful girls "Euphony", "Lyra", and "Melody" who aid him in a quest to regain his memories. When a set of memories are recovered the most "memorable" memories are brought to the surface. Danmaku translates into "Curtain of Fire," "Rain of Bullets", and "Bullet Hell".
