Hector: Badge of Carnage! is a point-and-click adventure where you play a hungover British cop with a knack for chaos. The game follows Detective Inspector Hector as he navigates a hostage crisis in a grimy, fictional city while balancing absurd side tasks like stealing a teenager’s pants or kicking a drugged-out civilian into a box. The story mixes dark humor with straightforward puzzle-solving, relying on dialogue choices and item-based interactions to advance. Gameplay feels intentionally rough around the edges, with exaggerated animations and a tone that leans into the absurdity of the situations. What sets it apart is the sheer volume of content crammed into its 2D world. Over 300 interactive objects and 2400 dialogue lines create a dense, if uneven, experience. The writing embraces a gritty, British sensibility, with characters ranging from a drunk homeless man to a porn shop clerk. While the game’s low-budget presentation and clunky mechanics might turn some off, fans of quirky, dialogue-driven adventures with a side of toilet humor might find the 18 grime-soaked locations worth exploring. The inclusion of “Free Lubricant” in the inventory alone is proof of its fearless weirdness.
