Hellgate was a third-person shooter built for the Dreamcast where you ride a motorcycle while blasting demons across four massive realms. The game promised high-speed action mixed with heavy weaponry to take down monsters in each area. Developers intended to include ten different guns and various multiplayer modes like Capture The Flag and Sumo. They even planned to support up to twelve players online, which would have been rare for the console at the time. The project never saw a full release due to the Dreamcast hardware shutdown and internal team issues. A playable beta leaked in 2009 though, letting people see what the final product might have looked like. The developer described it as a mix of Quake shooting mechanics and WipeOut racing speeds. Fifteen months of work went into the title before cancellation cut things short. It remains one of those lost gems that fans still talk about despite never launching properly.
