In Help! you play as a stick-wielding hero battling waves of snakes slithering up vines. Swing your club to bash incoming threats before they climb past you. Blue snakes can’t be killed and will chase you at lightning speed, draining lives on contact. Yellow snakes inch upward if left unchecked, and too many reaching the top causes a game over. The real danger? When these snakes knock an apple onto your girlfriend’s head, smashing her into goo. Each level increases the pressure as mistakes carry over, forcing you to balance speed and precision. The awkward control scheme and tight physics make for a brutal challenge. Holding two vines at once locks movement entirely, turning simple maneuvers into frustrating puzzles. With no second chances for most mistakes, every swing and shift demands focus. Released in 1983 on the Sharp MZ-2200, its frantic action and cruel mechanics haven’t aged much, though the difficulty spikes remain as sharp as ever.
