Henhouse is an arcade game where you manage a chaotic egg collection operation. Eggs drop into chutes at the top of the screen sliding down toward your waiting truck. Your goal is to gather as many as possible before the chutes overflow, each overflow cracks an egg and moves you closer to a game over. But the challenges don’t stop there. Random bandits snoop around swiping eggs to add to your cracked count while coyotes lurk ready to slaughter your chickens if they get too close. You’ll need to drop everything to grab your shotgun and blast threats though putting it down to collect eggs is just as crucial. What makes Henhouse memorable is its frantic multitasking. You’re constantly switching between defending the coop and harvesting eggs with every second counting. The added twist of birds flying overhead, worth 50 points each if shot, throws in a bit of optional mayhem. Though the game’s 1983 release on the TI-99 might feel dated its simple yet tricky mechanics still hold up for quick bursts of stress-inducing fun. The six-cracked-egg limit keeps tension high making every decision feel like a risk.
