Heroes of Anirea is a turn-based strategy RPG with roguelike progression, crafted by Crossbros Games and released on PC in 2027. The game blends tactical combat with character-driven storytelling set in a medieval fantasy world. Players assemble a squad of heroes, each tied to one of five elemental affinities, Gaia, Aqua, Ignis, Tempest, or Aero, and battle through procedurally generated campaigns. The narrative unfolds like an oral history, framing your journey as a legend being retold to a curious audience. Set across four distinct regions and the volcanic Ansiara Archipelago, the game emphasizes resource management, elemental synergy, and evolving strategies. It’s a single-player experience where choices matter, but no two runs feel the same.
Each session revolves around grid-based combat where positioning and terrain are critical. Heroes use turn-based actions to attack, defend, or cast elemental abilities that interact with the environment, like melting ice walls or igniting explosive fuel. The roguelite system introduces permadeath and random event chains, forcing adaptive playstyles. Early-game decisions, such as which regions to explore or heroes to recruit, shape late-game challenges. Battles are layered with mechanics: stacking elemental damage, countering enemy resistances, and managing stamina costs. Outside combat, brief menu-driven moments let you restock supplies or plan the next move. The game’s tactical depth shines in its balance of randomness and strategy, though some players might find its pace slower than traditional CRPGs.
PlayPile users rate it 4.3/5, with 88% of players completing the main campaign. Critics average 90/100, praising its "clever elemental interplay" but noting "repetitive dialogue." The average playtime is 22 hours, with 75% of completions finishing in under 30. Community moods skew nostalgic (62%) and strategic (45%), though 30% find the difficulty curve punishing. A top review on Steam reads: "The element system adds a welcome layer of strategy, but the lack of save scumming may frustrate casual players." Achievement stats show 150 total, with 85% of players unlocking 80+ by mid-campaign.
Heroes of Anirea is a niche pick for fans of deep turn-based tactics and roguelite systems. At $49.99, it offers solid value for its 20, 30 hour campaign and 150 achievements. The procedural elements keep things fresh, but the lack of hand-holding might alienate newcomers. If you enjoy grinding out perfect setups against AI, this is for you. Skip it if you prefer linear stories or instant feedback. The game’s true charm lies in its unpredictable challenges, though don’t expect a breezy experience.
Imagine an old man, tale telling the histories of how some heroes saved an old fantasy world to his grandchildren. That's what our campaign wants to make you feel, like you are one of the excited child freeing your imagination to tie up the loose ends of the story. Anirea is a medieval fantasy world with familiar and recognizable elements. In this world, every person is born with their soul bound to an element, which allows them to store and control its power to a greater or lesser extent depending on their magical potential and training. The five elements are: Gaia, Aqua, Ignis, Tempest, and Aero. The main continent is divided into four regions: The Kingdom of Quidalia, where magic and knowledge are everything; Solaris, the land of the fierce human warriors of the south; Vhal Dorel, the forested eastern territory inhabited by tribes of elves and feranids; and Nordskaald, the cold, mountainous kingdom that contends with the threat of dragons. Added to these are the islands of the Ansiara Archipelago to the west, a volcanic region. Through campaigns set in a roguelite environment, the player will experience the journey of the heroes who saved Anirea—their path, their choices, the dangers they faced, and the friends who aided them.
