About

Hide & Sink is a digital adaptation of the classic Battleship game, translated to DOS in 1983. You and the computer each place five ships of varying lengths on a grid, hidden from view. On your turn you pick coordinates to strike, trying to guess where the opponent's ships lurk. Sink all their vessels before they do the same to yours and you win. The simple mechanics rely on spatial reasoning and tactical guessing, making every move a calculated risk. It’s strategy stripped to its basics, with no frills just the core challenge of outthinking an opponent through a grid. This straightforward port captures the essence of the paper-and-pencil original without adding modern extras. The DOS interface keeps things no-nonsense, focusing entirely on the back-and-forth duel of wits. While not complex by today’s standards it remains a sharp mental exercise. The single player mode offers endless variations depending on how the AI chooses to fight. Nostalgic for its faithful execution and simplicity, it’s a brisk test of pattern recognition that still works after all these years.
