Hired Guns drops you on distant planets as a mercenary navigating combat and resource management. You gather weapons, scanners, and supplies while leading a squad through varied environments in this 1993 RPG. The single player campaign spans 20 missions across the Luyten system, balancing action with base-building elements. A split screen mode lets up to four players team up locally, sharing a screen as you tackle objectives together. The game’s split screen mode stood out for its time, offering cooperative play without online infrastructure. Its custom 3D terrain engine gave it sharper visuals than many contemporaries on DOS and Amiga. Developed by DMA Design (later Rockstar North) and published by Psygnosis, it carved a niche in early 90s PC gaming. Despite aging mechanics, its multiplayer remains a highlight for retro fans.
