Hissatsu Buraiken flips the beat 'em up script by ditching the side-scrolling norm for a top-down view where action unfolds in a 360-degree chaos. You’ll stomp through hordes of enemies with fists, kicks, and found weapons, either solo or with a partner in split-screen. Movement feels more fluid than it has any right to be given the angle, and the overhead perspective adds a layer of spatial strategy to each brawl. The game’s most memorable trait is its camera choice, which was bold for 1987. While few remember it today, it carved a niche in beat 'em up history for daring to break the mold. The split-screen mode remains a highlight, letting players team up without crowding the screen. It never got a home port, but the design proves even early arcade titles could experiment with perspective, long before the genre became a side-scrolling staple.
