Hiyake no Omoide & Himekuri is a puzzle game built around matching and swapping colored tiles. The objective is to clear stages by aligning groups of three or more, with the layout shifting in real time as pieces fall. Each level introduces new obstacles like locked tiles or time limits, mixing strategy and quick reflexes. The game follows two characters navigating a surreal world filled with abstract challenges, all presented through brightly colored sprites and minimalist sound design. The Sega Saturn version released in late 1995, later followed by a direct sequel. This title remains a niche oddity in the Saturn’s puzzle catalog. While it doesn’t reinvent the genre, the quirky character designs and fast-paced mechanics offer a distinct charm. Limited English resources and a 25-year-old release date keep it obscure, but it holds a small cult following among retro puzzle enthusiasts. Its sequel expanded on the formula, but Vol. 1 remains the entry point for curious players.
