Hockey is a sports game from 1976 designed for early dedicated consoles. It plays like a paddle-and-puck challenge where two players face off on a simplified rink. The objective is to maneuver a puck past your opponent’s paddle and into their goal. The original version ran on monochrome screens while a 1977 update added color and visible netting. Both versions support local multiplayer with simple controls focused on quick reflexes. The upgraded version on the AY-3-8610 chip introduced a novelty: the puck could bounce behind the goals, adding a layer of unpredictability to matches. Though primitive by modern standards, it’s a relic of early console experimentation. Community archives note it as one of the first hockey-themed games to include multiplayer competition. Short, fast, and technically limited but functional for its time.
