About

Hokuto no Ken Part-2 is a side-scrolling brawler that casts Kenshiro as he fights through henchmen and bosses to stop the Heavenly Emperor's regime. Released in 1987 for the Family Computer and later the Nintendo Entertainment System, it features linear stages filled with melee combat, quick-time attacks, and environmental hazards. The challenge ramps up with tough enemy waves and boss fights that require memorization and precision. The story follows the Tentei arc but shifts character roles and introduces new antagonists not seen in the anime or manga. The game stands out for its hybrid cast, pulling villains from both the manga and anime while adding original characters like Bronza. Shoki from the series is replaced with a unique boss, and the final battle hides a secret Nameless Asura stage for completionists. North American players saw it as Fist of the North Star in 1989, with minor name tweaks but identical mechanics. Despite its difficulty, it remains a cult favorite, with 17% of attempts on speedrun leaderboards finishing under 18 minutes.
