Hole is a text-based adventure game from 1988. You play as a lone crew member of a starship in 2208 tasked with exploring a sector previously visited by the ship Zelda. After a blackout you awaken in a galaxy connected by black holes. Navigate your ship between planets but each has unique environmental conditions requiring specific protective gear. The game uses a verb-noun command system with save and restore functions to manage your journey through the unknown. This early title highlights the puzzle-solving of 80s text adventures. The black hole-linked galaxy creates a disorienting map while equipment choices add urgency to exploration. Limited by Dragon 32/64 hardware the game focuses on logic and environmental storytelling. A brief but challenging experience showing how the format balanced mystery with practical problem solving before the genre expanded.
