Home Alone on the Sega Master System is a side-scrolling action game that adapts the 1990 film's slapstick premise into simple but frantic gameplay. You play as Kevin, using a slingshot, paint cans, and other household items to thwart two bumbling burglars. Each level tasks you with surviving their increasingly destructive attempts to break in, requiring quick reflexes and memorization of enemy patterns. The Master System version trims down the Mega Drive original's length but sharpens controls and adds more fluid animation for the hardware. Developed by Probe Software and released in 1992, this version is frequently favored over other Home Alone ports by retro players. Its tighter level design and better enemy AI give it more longevity than the Game Gear and Mega Drive iterations. While not a critical darling in its day, it now has a cult reputation among Master System fans, with some retro reviews calling it the strongest adaptation of the film. It's a quick but punchy throwback to early '90s arcade-style defense games that still works well in short bursts.
