Hopper Copper casts you as a cop forced to chase criminals on a space hopper in a grid-based town. Navigate a side-on scrolling map by bouncing left or right through streets, guided by a top-down layout that shows open paths and enemy locations. Four criminals hide in different blocks, each armed with distinct hazards, tacks and guns that drain lives, a club that just slows you down. The clock ticks as you bounce toward crime scenes, timing landings to avoid attacks and stomp foes. Running on 1980s hardware like the C64 and ZX Spectrum, it leans into retro simplicity with twitchy controls and tense pacing. The time pressure and varied enemy mechanics add layers to what could be a basic chase loop. Despite its age, the mix of map navigation and risk-reward encounters feels surprisingly strategic for a genre often focused on pure reflexes. A relic of late '80s arcade conversions that still tests your ability to think on your feet, literally.
