Hunchback is a platformer where you navigate a castle wall from left to right, dodging traps and enemies. Swing over gaps with a rope, leap over knights on ramparts, and avoid projectiles like fireballs and arrows. After several levels, the challenge ramps up with a final rescue mission. Once you beat the last screen, the game restarts at a faster pace, testing your reflexes under pressure. Launched in late 1983, it became a staple on retro systems from ZX Spectrum to Commodore 64. The game’s punishing difficulty and tight controls made it a favorite among 80s arcade fans, with its speed-increasing mechanic foreshadowing modern "endless runner" traits. Its pixelated knights and simplistic sound design feel intentionally crude now but showcase early platforming fundamentals. Still shows up in retro compilations for its no-frills action.
