About

Image Fight II: Operation Deepstriker is a follow up to Irem’s 1988 vertical shooter set three years after humanity’s near destruction. A new alien threat emerges as mysterious objects approach Earth forcing players to pilot a ship through four training simulations before tackling six main stages. Progress hinges on performance ratings, fall short and you’ll face a brutal Penalty Area that cuts short your run. Combat revolves around attaching up to three orbs to your craft each altering projectile direction while secondary weapons like lasers and missiles can be equipped but only swapped via direct hits. Tight controls and punishing difficulty define the experience with a focus on precision and resource management. The weapon system encourages experimentation balancing forward facing blue orbs with red ones that fire opposite your movement. While there’s no multiplayer the single player campaign demands repeated attempts to master stage requirements. Nostalgic arcade fans appreciate the stripped down high score mentality, though modern players might find the lack of leniency daunting. A relic of its era it still shines for those craving retro shooter intensity.
