In Light is a co-op platformer where you guide two characters through elemental landscapes to restore balance to a fractured world. As Yin and Yang, you leap, climb, and manipulate environmental forces across wood, fire, water, earth, and metal realms. The core mechanic lets one player control each character simultaneously solving puzzles that require split-second coordination. Many obstacles demand precise timing like syncing jumps or creating bridges while others hinge on contrasting abilities like light and shadow interactions. The single player mode alternates between characters automatically but co-op play unlocks the full synergy of dual controls. The game’s mythological story about restoring a shattered cosmic egg feels distinct among 2009 indie releases. While combat is minimal the focus stays on physics based puzzle solving and traversal. With support for local co op on PS4 PC and Mac it carved a niche for players craving collaborative problem solving over traditional action. Though not widely discussed in modern retrospectives its dual perspective design remains a solid example of how asymmetric controls can deepen platforming challenges.

Storyline

In the beginning, there was only Chaos. Then came the Cosmic Egg, surrounded by the five elements: Wood, Fire, Water, Earth and Metal. Inside the Egg lied Yin and Yang, ready to fuse with it to create the First Human, and with him, the first universe. But Chaos didn’t wanted a change, so it broke the Egg, removing Yin and Yang from within and cast them away as far as it could. Fortunately, they crashed in the Land of Wood. Taking on new forms, Yin and Yang swore themselves to cross the elements, find their Guardians and go as far as they can to reach the Egg before it ceases to exist, and let only Chaos remain.
