Indiana Jones in the Lost Kingdom blends platforming and puzzle-solving set in a mysterious ancient kingdom. You control Dr. Jones navigating six levels filled with traps, enemies, and shifting environments. Each stage requires figuring out how to use his cane to defeat bats, monsters, and other hazards while solving environmental puzzles. Controls change per level forcing you to adapt your approach. The goal is always the same: outpace rival Ivar Reiss by claiming a powerful artifact before he does. The game’s defining trait is its refusal to hold your hand. No tutorials or instructions are given, you’re left to experiment with movements, observe subtle visual and audio cues, and decode hieroglyphic hints using a special viewer included in the manual. A two-player mode adds cooperative challenge. Released in 1985 for Commodore 64, it remains a curious relic of early puzzle design where trial-and-error was both obstacle and solution.
