Infinite Space casts you as Yuri, a second class citizen who seizes his chance to escape a hostile planet and build a fleet in the stars. The game mixes real time strategy with RPG progression as you upgrade and command multiple ships across space battles and planetary conflicts. Each vessel has unique traits and weapons letting you tweak builds for combat or exploration. The story unfolds through visual novel scenes while tactical decisions shape your journey from fugitive to captain. Developed by PlatinumGames for the Nintendo DS it pushes the hardware with over 200 characters and complex fleet management. Players can control up to 150 customizable ships in real time a rare feat for the system. Despite its 2009 release its layered strategy and deep customization still stand out among handheld RPGs. Co-op and competitive multiplayer let teams coordinate ship commands adding replay value to the already branching story and combat options.

Storyline

"Growing up as a second class citizen on a back-water planet, Yuri dreamed of being able to travel the stars. After many years he saved up enough credits to buy transport off the planet, but space travel is forbidden to second class citizens, and he is chased by the security forces of the corrupt owner of the planet. To survive the dangers of space Yuri must become a captain, buy and customize star ships, and fight against hostile enemies both on the ground and in space."
