About

Insignia is a single player adventure that blends platforming with hand drawn pixel art. You play as Armin, who takes over his blacksmith father's shop after the old man goes missing during a merchant trip. The world looks like a painting come to life thanks to frame by frame animation and detailed tile sets. Gameplay focuses on exploring Ohrenstead and its surroundings while solving puzzles and moving through levels that feel like a throwback to older 2D classics. The visual style stands out immediately with its colorful palette and smooth sprite work that avoids the jagged look of modern retro games. Player ratings suggest folks really enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere without feeling stuck in the past. The story about a young man finding his way forward adds weight to each platforming section you clear. It feels like a labor of love from Uppon Hill rather than a cash grab. You can find it on PC or Mac if you want to try this indie gem yourself.

Storyline

Over a hundred years have passed since the last great war among kingdoms. In this time of peace, men of practical trades are sanctioned to take up wares and travel the land as merchants. Armin's father was one such man, a renowned blacksmith who disappeared on an excursion just one year ago. Now, having come of age, Armin must accept his fate as the only successor to the craft in his home town of Ohrenstead.
