International Karate + is a punchy arcade fighter that ups the ante from its predecessor. You pick from three fighters each with their own moveset including flashy combos like a double head-kick and backflip. The action unfolds in animated stages with destructible elements and reworked tunes by Rob Hubbard. Single player challenges the CPU while local multiplayer lets you duke it out face to face. Early reviews praised its punchy animations and tight controls with one 1980s publication dubbing it a genre standout. The added "Balls" mechanic lets you collect power-ups mid-fight adding chaotic flair. Though released in 1987 it remains playable on modern systems through Wii and PlayStation ports. The Commodore 64 version in particular was noted for squeezing vibrant effects from limited hardware.
