Inversion throws you into a world where gravity is a weapon. Play as a cop or his neighbor in this third-person shooter where futuristic aliens called Lutadore have turned cities into chaotic, floating battlegrounds. Use the Grappler weapon to pull enemies, objects, or even sections of the environment toward you creating opportunities to outmaneuver foes or clear paths through inverted landscapes. Campaign missions mix single-player and co-op play as you navigate zero-G zones and warped physics to track down a missing child amid the wreckage. The game’s gravity mechanics stand out for letting players rewrite the rules of combat and traversal. Co-op modes encourage creative teamwork whether you’re tossing allies over obstacles or yanking enemies into the air. Released in 2012 it runs on older consoles and PC but its physics-based gameplay remains fresh for fans of experimental shooters. While not a critical darling it earned a niche following for its willingness to let players flip the script on traditional firefights.
Set in the near future, the tranquil peace enjoyed by mankind shatters with an unforeseen invasion by an unknown enemy called the Lutadore. Armed to the teeth with futuristic gravity-controlling weapons, the Lutadore easily overrun the city's defenses. Unbeknownst to all, mysterious anomalies have surfaced in conjunction with the invasion. Random regions in the city have entered zero gravity or have suffered vector changes, throwing the world into topsy-turvy chaos. Assuming the role of Davis Russel, a hotheaded 28-year-old cop, or Leo Delgado, Davis’ neighbor, players will embark on a journey through the disorienting war-ravaged, gravity twisted streets of their home town and beyond, to find Davis' missing child.
