Iron Aces is a flight simulator set in an alternate World War 2 scenario. Players take control of an American pilot fighting German and Japanese forces while allied with the British, all clashing over a fictional Pacific island chain. The game reimagines history with all four major powers, American, British, German, and Japanese, engaged in direct conflict within the same theater. Missions focus on aerial combat against enemy aircraft, with minimal ground-based objectives. The Dreamcast version features simplified controls and a straightforward dogfighting experience. The game’s defining trait is its chaotic, alternate-history battlefield where traditional allies and enemies fight each other. While real-world planes form the basis of the aircraft, the scenarios are entirely fabricated. Released in 2000, Iron Aces offers a no-frills approach to aerial combat simulation, prioritizing fast-paced action over historical detail.
