Jam with the Band lets you create and perform music using the Nintendo DS. Play as a character in a band using the system’s features to mix instruments and vocals. Up to four players can join in locally taking turns on different parts. The game leans into the DS’s hardware letting you tweak sounds with the touch screen and microphone. The sequel to a Japan-only launch title it added a Wii channel for TV audio output in 2008. Barbara Bat returns from the original but the main draw was its hardware integration. While not a long term hit it stood out for letting players manipulate music in real time with the DS’s unique controls. The multiplayer mode kept sessions lively even if the song library felt small by modern standards.
