About

Jewelic Nightmare pairs dating sim mechanics with a surreal narrative split across two realities. Follow Michiru, a student who begins dreaming of a mysterious castle where she must connect with five abrasive, jewel-shaped men. In the real world, she meets five others who look identical but act kind and charming. The game shifts between these settings, letting you make dialogue choices that shape relationships and gradually uncover the link between the two worlds. The game’s standout is its unusual structure, balancing simulation elements with visual novel storytelling. The contrast between the cruel dream versions and the gentle real-life counterparts creates intriguing dynamics. Though the 2013 release shows technical age, niche fans praise the slow-burn mystery and layered characters. The dual narrative keeps things fresh, even if mechanics stick to visual novel norms. The blend of mystery and character-driven choices offers a distinct take on the genre for those looking beyond typical romance paths.

Storyline

A quiet, moonless night. Tsukishiro Michiru has a dream of being lost inside a mysterious old castle. She meets with five jewels that had taken the form of attractive men. She is ordered by the castle's master. "Choose the jewel you think suits you the best by the night of the next full moon" However, the jewels only have exceedingly harsh personalities that would be called "cruel", "beastly", "sadistic", "scheming", or "yandere"! As though being guided by something, in the real world she then meets five men that look the same as the jewels she met in the dream world. But completely different from the jewels, these men are refreshing and wonderful. Are they the same person or a different person? If they are the same person, which one is their true self? While spending the day with the gentle and refreshing men and the nights with the extreme and ill-mannered men, the curtain is opening on days filled with a puzzling "gap"!
