Jongbou fuses brick-breaking action with tile-matching strategy. Players clear levels by either knocking all blocks off the screen or gathering falling pieces to form a complete Mahjong hand. Each stage offers two paths to victory shifting between arcade reflexes and puzzle planning. The game cycles through increasingly complex layouts keeping the pace brisk and the challenges varied. The arcade version included animated bonuses featuring stylized anime art after each level a feature absent in the Famicom port.
