Jurassic Park is a 1994 arcade rail shooter that puts you in the back of a modified Ford Explorer. You grab a joystick and blast dinosaurs as they lurch across the screen. The gameplay follows a linear path with sudden jumps and spins, forcing you to react quickly to oncoming threats. Dinosaur sprites pop against polygon-based environments, creating a pseudo-3D effect that heightens the chaos. The cabinet itself is a replica of the movie’s tour vehicle, adding physical immersion to the frantic action. This game introduced hydraulic motion seats to arcade shooters, syncing vibrations and tilts with on-screen events. It was the first rail shooter to use 3D environments, blending hand-drawn characters with polygonal settings to trick players into feeling movement. Though arcade cabinets are rare today, its inventive use of hardware and visuals made it a standout in 90s arcades. Players remember it for the visceral thrill of dodging raptors while the seat bucks under them.
