You play Tatsuya, a high schooler in a quiet town who ventures into a forest with friends to find a missing classmate. What starts as a simple search turns deadly when the group encounters ghosts, corpses, and other horrors. This PlayStation 2 visual novel uses branching choices to advance the story. Some decisions require quick responses under time pressure while others let you use collected items to influence outcomes. The path you take determines one of several endings many of which don’t end well for the protagonist. The tension comes from tight decision moments and the constant risk of failure. Multiple playthroughs are common since choices often lead to different consequences including permanent death. Released in late 2002 this title leans into classic horror tropes with a focus on survival and moral dilemmas.
