About

Kaettekita Mario Bros. is a side-scrolling platformer where Mario and Luigi battle enemies in New York sewers. Players jump, punch, and collect coins to earn paychecks while surviving relentless waves of foes. The game adds saved high scores and new levels to its predecessor’s formula, supporting single-player runs or co-op with a friend. Classic 8-bit visuals and tight controls keep the action snappy, though the repetitive enemy patterns may wear thin over time. This Japan-only Famicom Disk release holds historical weight as the final Mario title for the system before CD-ROMs shifted Nintendo’s direction. Its odd co-publisher, Nagatanien, a food company, left traces in the code, with subtle in-game ads for their products. While not the most inventive entry in the series, it’s a concise, playable throwback. Limited to 1988’s technical capabilities, it still holds up for quick bursts of retro couch co-op.

Storyline

The story of this game revolves around two plumbers, Mario and Luigi, who are working in the sewers of New York. The sewers are overrun by waves of enemies and the Mario Bros. have to defeat the enemies and collect coins to receive their pay.
