Kakenuke Forward to Our Sparking Youth! is a visual novel about a student torn between two opposing visions of adolescence. Yuu Tono spends his days working part-time and focusing on school, dismissing "youth" as a distraction. But his childhood friend Hibiki and classmate Riri won’t let him stay buried in textbooks. Hibiki’s AcTive club pushes him to embrace carefree fun, while Riri’s NegaTive group urges him toward meaningful service. Every interaction pulls Yuu toward one path or the other, with dialogue and choices shaping how he defines his time in school. The story unfolds through branching routes, letting players see how small decisions ripple into bigger consequences for relationships and personal growth. What stands out is the clear contrast between the two clubs, AcTive’s lively antics versus NegaTive’s earnest missions, each with distinct personalities and goals. The narrative leans into slice-of-life charm while questioning what it means to make the most of limited time. Released in 2021, it’s a lightweight but thoughtful take on teen drama, with minimal combat or action to slow down the character-driven pacing. The Switch and PC ports make it easy to pick up for short sessions, perfect for fans of school-based stories where dialogue matters more than flashy mechanics.
The protagonist, Yuu Tono, is a second-year at Kazami Academy. He's at that age that falls right at the apex of one's youth and adolescence. But..."Youth? Who cares about that? I'm busy with my part-time job." He's a hyper-realist who devotes his youth to his part-time job. He adeptly completes his schoolwork while spending every day at work earning money. Hibiki, his childhood friend who refuses to stand by and watch and Riri, a classmate who looks up to Yuu as her master try to get him to join their clubs and change his life. Hibiki encourages him to join the "Activity Collective," or "AcTive" for short, made up of lively girls with the slogan, "Let's enjoy our youth and have tons of fun at school!" Riri encourages him to join the "Volunteer Collective," nicknamed the "NegaTive," made up of diligent girls with the slogan, "Let's devote our precious youths to making the world a better place." Both clubs relentlessly try to recruit Yuu. "I'm not interested in either. Youth isn't essential to me whatsoever." Day after day, the girls refuse to leave Yuu alone, without any concern for what he wants... Why in the world did things turn out this way? "That much oughta be obvious." "Get ready, Senpai. It's high time ya enjoyed your youth!" Just what kind of "youth" awaits Yuu Tono?!
