Kamen Rider: Battride War is an action RPG that mixes third person combat with team-based brawling. Players lead squads of Kamen Riders through waves of foes using a mix of melee attacks and rider-specific abilities. Combat focuses on chaining moves with up to three allies at once while managing a gauge that lets you unleash powerful finishers. The single player story sees most Heisei-era riders trapped in altered memories while Wizard works to free them from a corrupted former ally. Online multiplayer supports up to four players in arena brawls or cooperative missions. The game leans heavily into its source material with over 30 playable Heisei-era characters but offers little beyond dedicated fan service. While the Dynasty Warriors-style battles deliver chaotic fun, repetitive enemy types and lackluster AI bring some fights to a crawl. Community ratings hover around 8/10 on GameRankings and 78% on Metacritic with praise for the roster and combat depth. A limited edition bundled original Kamen Rider theme songs but only two alternate character models ever appeared as promised Showa-era riders never materialized.

Storyline

The game's story mode known as "Chronicle Mode" ultimately pits the Kamen Riders against their mortal enemies in a final showdown. In this game, many Heisei Riders had their memories sealed and altered by a former member of Foundation X, Callas (voiced by Hōchū Ōtsuka). Only Wizard who manage to survive the seal and alteration thanks to an entity known as Canaria (voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro, who also voiced Kiva-la). It is up to Wizard to break free and restore the Heisei Riders' memories.
