About

Keitai Denjuu Telefang: Speed Version is a turn-based role-playing game set in a world where mobile phones act as portals to a realm of wild creatures. Using a special device called a D-Shot, you team up with Denjuu, animal-like beings you “befriend” by exchanging phone numbers. The story follows Shigeki, a human who stumbles into this world and sets out to explore it with his partner. Battles play out in real time with simple button combos, and the game supports local multiplayer for up to four players, letting you battle or team up with friends. Despite its cult status, the game never got an official English release and remains a niche relic of early 2000s handheld gaming. It exists in two versions, Power and Speed, with this one leaning into faster combat and exploration. Many outside Japan first encountered it through a bootlegged hack passed off as a Pokémon clone, which only deepened its mythos. The game’s quirky concept and charming pixel art keep it memorable for retro RPG fans, though its lack of localization and dated systems mean it’s best approached as a curiosity.
