About

Kero Blaster is a side-scrolling action game where you play a frog employee of a teleporter repair company. Armed with a peashooter and a grumpy attitude, you jump, dash, and shoot through linear levels teeming with black sludge creatures. The controls emphasize quick direction changes and holding fire for continuous bursts, letting you chain moves and clear hordes. Combat feels tight and responsive, blending platforming precision with bullet-hell moments. You collect upgrades to swap between weapons like a machine gun or laser, each with distinct firing patterns. The story is thin but serves as a goofy excuse for the chaotic action. Made by Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya, best known for 2004’s Cave Story, this 2014 release drew praise for its retro arcade energy and tight mechanics. USGamer noted similarities to Contra and pre-1999 Castlevania titles, calling it “a blast from the past.” A free demo called Pink Hour circulated before launch, giving players a taste of its 30-minute runtime. It’s available on multiple platforms including Switch and mobile, though the core experience stays short and punchy. The frog’s deadpan expressions and quirky level design add charm to a game built on pure action.
