Kikori no Yosaku is a fast paced arcade game where players swing an axe to cut down trees as quickly as possible. The challenge comes from dodging bird droppings and avoiding collisions with wandering animals that block your path. Released in 1981 it's a direct adaptation of SNK's Yosaku arcade title bringing similar simple yet frantic gameplay to home consoles. As the first game launched with the Epoch Cassette Vision system it holds historical significance more than anything else. Its straightforward mechanics and short play sessions made it accessible for early home gamers though its controversial unauthorized source material keeps it a niche curiosity today.
