Kinetic Void lets you build and pilot custom starships across a procedurally generated galaxy with no set story. Design your vessel piece by piece using modules for hulls, engines, weapons, and aesthetics. Each part has stats and optional subsystems that boost performance or add flair. Physics matter here, crash into an asteroid at full speed and you’ll see just how fragile your creation can be. Use the Kinetic Field Generator to bend gravity, shield your ship, or warp to distant sectors in seconds. Exploration and combat happen in real time, with options to command turrets, deploy drones, or dodge obstacles in tight dogfights. The game thrives on player choice. Factions shift based on trade, war, or piracy, creating a dynamic galaxy where alliances form and break organically. Ship designs can be saved or shared via Steam Workshop, potentially appearing as NPC vessels in new galaxies. Three control schemes let you switch between keyboard commands, mouse-driven flight, or camera-based targeting depending on the situation. With no main quest, your path, whether as a trader, warlord, or rogue, shapes the experience. The lack of handholding means the galaxy feels vast and unpredictable, even if the 2014 release shows some age in visuals and polish.
