King's Knight is a 1986 top-down shooter where you guide four distinct heroes through five stages to stop a dragon and save a trapped princess. Each character has unique abilities: one hits hard, another uses magic, one tanks damage, and a thief moves fast. You collect power-ups like shields, boots, and weapons to boost stats, with hidden items under terrain to upgrade your team. The first four stages focus on maxing out your party before the final push, where every character must survive to succeed. Everything onscreen is destructible, and your choices in gear and survival shape your path. The game's challenge comes from needing all four heroes alive for the last stage, adding pressure to early runs. It's considered one of Square's earliest releases and shows classic arcade-style difficulty. Despite its age, the pick-up-and-play action and retro charm keep it fresh for fans of old-school shooters. Many note its similarities to other 8-bit titles but appreciate its tight controls and escalating stakes.
