Kisou Jidaigeki Sugoriku Shinobi No Roku is a turn-based strategy game set in feudal Japan where players guide ninja squads across board layouts using item cards and combat mechanics. Movement and battles unfold on static grids, with encounters triggering mini-battles resolved through card plays and positioning. The game blends resource management with tactical showdowns as characters navigate period-themed maps and confront opponents. The game’s niche appeal lies in its straightforward execution of classic board game mechanics with a historical twist. While it lacks modern polish, its structured gameplay and dual focus on strategy and theme have earned it a steady following among retro board game enthusiasts. Available on PlayStation platforms since 2000, it remains a curious artifact of early 2000s strategy design.
The Edo period, or Tokugawa period is the period between 1603 to 1868 in the history of Japan when Japanese society was under the rule of the Tokugawa shogunate and the country's 300 regional Daimyo. The period was characterized by economic growth, strict social orders, isolationist foreign policies, an increase in both environmental protection and popular enjoyment of arts and culture. The shogunate was officially established in Edo on March 24, 1603 by Tokugawa Ieyasu. The period came to an end with the Meiji Restoration on May 3, 1868 after the fall of Edo.
