About Kissrim

Kissrim is an indie adventure visual novel developed by iMeL, released in December 2025 for PC and Nintendo Switch. It follows the protagonist, who encounters Lily, a succubus in distress, under a bridge one night. The game blends slice-of-life storytelling with supernatural themes, as the two navigate their unusual bond. The narrative focuses on emotional decisions and character growth, framed through static scenes and dialogue. With minimal combat, the gameplay centers on choice-driven interactions that shape Lily’s fate. Ideal for fans of slow-burn narratives, it’s a short but atmospheric experience.

Gameplay

Kissrim plays out like a traditional visual novel, with players advancing scenes via keyboard or Joy-Con clicks. Most sessions last 15, 30 minutes, though story choices branch into multiple endings. The protagonist interacts with Lily through scripted dialogue, occasionally selecting responses that affect their relationship. While the core is text-heavy, occasional minigames appear during energy-drain sequences, requiring quick timed presses. The story unfolds in real-time with a fixed pace, punctuated by brief exploration of Lily’s hidden world. Controls are straightforward, with minimal complexity beyond navigating menus.

What Players Think

PlayPile users rate Kissrim 8.2/10, with 68% completing the main story. Average playtime is 10.5 hours, though 25% of players report finishing in under 8 hours. Community moods skew warm (72% “moved,” 58% “nostalgic”) but split on pacing, with 15% calling it “slow.” Critics praise the writing but note repetitive dialogue. Achievement data shows 25 total unlocks, with 78% of players completing 70% or more. Reviews highlight the “unexpected emotional depth” but criticize a “predictable twist” in the final act.

PlayPile's Take

Kissrim is a niche pick for visual novel fans who enjoy character-driven stories over action. Priced at $19.99, it offers modest replayability through multiple endings. While the narrative’s heartwarming beats are undercut by pacing issues, the 10-hour runtime and emotional payoff justify the cost for those seeking a quiet, introspective experience. Skip if you prefer fast-paced or action-heavy games.

Storyline

One late night, on his way home from the station to his apartment, the protagonist hears the sound of a girl crying under the bridge. Although the area isn’t particularly unsafe, it’s certainly not a safe place for a girl to be alone at such an hour. Unable to ignore it, the protagonist makes his way down beneath the bridge. There, he finds a succubus curled up inside a cardboard box, hugging her knees. Through her tears, she begs him to let her perform an energy drain (life-force absorption). The protagonist reaches out his hand and says: "If you don’t mind me, I’ll help you however I can." And so begins the two of them’s shared life together.
