About

Kiteretsu Daihyakka Bouken Ooedo Jyuraki is a Game Boy adventure game that mixes platforming and mini-games with a wild historical twist. You play as Korosuke, dodging obstacles and slicing enemies in side-scrolling action sections before switching to quirky mini-games that test timing or pattern recognition. Your score depends on leftover health and mini-game performance, with a perfect average unlocking a different ending. The controls are tight but demand precision, especially in tighter platforming bits. The game’s charm comes from its over-the-top premise, dinosaurs crash-land in Edo-era Japan, and a mad scientist’s robot is hijacked by a “Black Ship Alien Army.” It’s a chaotic blend of samurai aesthetics and sci-fi nonsense that feels distinctly 90s. Though obscure, it’s remembered by retro fans for its inventive stage design and replayability. With 100-point scoring tiers and multiple endings, it pushes the Game Boy’s limits. Short on dialogue but heavy on action, it’s a niche title that still delights those who seek it out.
