About

Kizuna Kirameku Koi Iroha is a visual novel where you follow Touki, a student torn between his family’s legacy as a katana smith and his modern-day knack for gadgets. After a mysterious goddess shows up, his life gets tangled with five distinct female characters, each with their own ties to swords and his craft. You’ll navigate relationships through dialogue choices, shaping bonds as you forge weapons that influence their personal stories. The game leans into slice-of-life charm, blending school drama with light romantic intrigue and the occasional fantasy twist. Standouts include the art direction, which balances vibrant anime aesthetics with detailed smithing sequences, and the character dynamics that feel refreshingly low-pressure. While the plot doesn’t break new ground, the cast’s quirks and the focus on craftsmanship add a subtle layer of depth. Released in 2017, it runs smoothly on PC and PS4, offering around 20 hours of gameplay with multiple endings. Community feedback highlights the soothing pace and well-voiced interactions, though some note the story’s simplicity.

Storyline

Touki is a second-year student at Murakumo Academy who is training as a katana smith. He attracts a lot of attention since his ancestor was a famous katana smith, but due to a certain reason, he spent all his time playing with machines instead. The appearance one day of the ‘goddess’ Ayase, who claimed to be the guardian deity of his family home, was the trigger for many fated meetings: The black-haired transfer student Saya, who he met on a moonlit night. His childhood friend Tsubaki, who is the school’s strongest swordswoman. His kind kouhai Shion, who has a habit of breaking her weapons. The full-of-curiosity ojousama Freesia, who is an aspiring blacksmith. These meetings rekindled his passion for swordsmithing, and his special bonds with the girls grew stronger by way of the swords which he crafted for them.
