Knuckles Baseball is a handheld LCD game designed for quick bursts of action. You press a button to catch baseballs thrown by Sonic at timed intervals. Each successful catch moves you closer to advancing levels which boost the game's speed. The simplicity of the controls masks growing difficulty as timing becomes tighter. Single player mode focuses entirely on high score chasing through progressively faster rounds. The game's odd regional split makes it a niche collectible. Only released in some areas during 2004 Happy Meals while other regions got a different Knuckles title. No online elements or multiplayer options exist. Despite its brief release window the mechanics create a surprisingly addictive rhythm challenge. Best known for its connection to McDonald's promotions rather than gameplay innovation.
