Knytt is a side-scrolling platformer where you guide a small, blob-like creature through colorful, hand-drawn worlds. The alien Knytt crash-lands on a foreign planet and must scavenge for ship parts to return home. Gameplay mixes precise platforming, light puzzle-solving, and exploration across floating islands and alien jungles. Controls are tight and responsive, with a focus on momentum and timing as you leap between surfaces and navigate shifting environments. The game stands out for its charming, minimalist art style and serene atmosphere. Despite its simple visuals, Knytt offers a surprisingly deep sense of discovery, with hidden areas and subtle environmental storytelling. Released in 2006 as freeware, it built a dedicated following over time. Its low price point and straightforward design make it an easy recommendation for fans of classic platformers looking for something with character.
The Knytt, a weird little creature, gets abducted from his native planet by an alien. However, before reaching its supposed destination, the alien's ship crashes against an asteroid, and the alien makes an emergency landing on a nearby planet. If he ever wants to get home again, the Knytt must help the alien recover the parts of the spaceship which has been scattered all over the strange planet.
