La Corona Mágica is a fast-paced action game where you control Zaik and Rahman as they battle through hordes of enemies to reclaim a mystical artifact. Played from a top-down perspective, the game blends real-time combat with platforming, letting you switch between characters mid-fight. Each level is a gauntlet of pixel-art enemies, obstacles, and boss battles. The controls are tight for a game of its era, with simple yet responsive melee and magic attacks. Released in 1990, it ran on budget systems like the Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum, making it accessible during the early '90s gaming boom. While the story borrows from a forgotten Spanish cartoon, the game’s charm lies in its colorful visuals and relentless difficulty. Retro fans might appreciate the sheer variety of ports, but modern players will notice its dated mechanics. Still, it’s a relic of a time when arcade-style action ruled the living room.
In the imaginary Double Sun System, composed of seven planets and twelve moons, lived happily the inhabitants of the third planet ruled by King Brigail, accompanied by his son Zaik and the great magician Rahman. The evil witch Idun took possession of the Magic Crown and after invading the planet ordered Zohak, the sinister vizier of her armies, to pursue Zaik and Rahman. Both venture to get the Magic Plant to put an end to the spells of the witch Idún.
