La Espada Sagrada is a 1990 action-adventure split into three distinct acts. The first two stages task you with navigating a perilous jungle and a trap-filled cave using platforming and logic puzzles. The final stage shifts to side-scrolling arcade combat as you wield the Sacred Sword against enemies. Played on DOS and other retro systems, it balances exploration with sudden bursts of action. The game stands out for its abrupt genre shifts and tight level design. Early stages demand patience to avoid pitfalls and solve environmental challenges, while the third stage ramps up the pace with responsive combat. With its mix of stealth, strategy, and reflexes, it offers a concise but varied experience. The story about preventing the sword’s power from turning corrupt adds light stakes to the straightforward gameplay.
According to legend, a brave warrior "Mahua" managed, after overcoming tough tests and facing the fierce warriors of the town "Poloruwa", unearthing the Sacred Sword during the full moon so that it acquired all its power. Otherwise, the benign power of the Sacred Sword would be transformed into negative energy, a source of power that in the hands of the "Poloruwas" could be used to subdue any people to their will.
