Laser Blast tasks you with piloting a flying saucer to dismantle enemy bases on a distant planet. Three laser towers pop up across the terrain, protected by a force field that blocks direct approach. You and the bases trade laser fire one shot at a time, with each hit forcing your ship to spiral downward. Crash into a base to destroy it but risk losing your saucer. Later waves bring faster targets, tighter force fields, and sharper enemy aim. Points multiply with each round, up to 90 per base, with bonuses for every 1000 points earned. The game’s escalating tension comes from shrinking maneuverability and increasing rewards. Early 80s arcade simplicity meets clever risk management, your crash dive can turn a bad play into a big score. With six reserve ships and a max score capped at 999,999 (marked by exclamation points), it’s a bite-sized test of reflexes. Released in 1981, it’s a relic of Atari’s library but still sharp enough to cut through nostalgia.
