Leather Goddesses of Phobos 2 drops you in 1956 as one of three characters a human man a human woman or a buglike alien. You navigate a retro sci-fi world filled with gas stations drive-ins and interstellar threats while solving puzzles to stop the Pulsating Inconvenience from Planet X from destroying Earth. The game mixes slapstick humor absurd situations and quirky dialogue with point-and-click mechanics. Expect a chaotic blend of roadside kitsch and cosmic chaos where everyday objects double as tools for saving the world. The game’s cult following stems from its over-the-top writing and 80s nostalgia. Steve Meretzky’s signature wit shines in offbeat encounters and pun-heavy jokes. Though dated by today’s standards it earned 4.6 out of 5 on the Interactive Fiction Database for its creativity. Playing as an alien adds a meta twist that rewards experimentation. The DOS version remains playable through emulation but its charm lies in the sheer randomness of its retro sci-fi absurdity.
