This title was meant to be the sixth chapter in the Legacy of Kain saga but never saw the light of day. Ritual Entertainment started work in 2004 with help from Crystal Dynamics before dropping the project after just a few months. Players would have controlled Kain as he explored new areas like Malek's Bastion and the Demon Realm while digging deeper into the lore surrounding the Hylden Lord. The game was slated for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 systems. Community members uncovered details about the missing title years later through leaked screenshots and concept art. Fans familiar with the series know these artifacts show Kain facing off against new enemies in locations that were only mentioned in previous games. Several artists from the original studio have confirmed the game's existence even though the publisher never made an official announcement. The story would have continued directly from Defiance to explain what happened after the banishment of the Hylden faction.
As a direct continuation of the Legacy of Kain story, The Dark Prophecy would have involved Kain travelling to a number of familiar (or previously mentioned but unseen) locations such as The Ruins of The Pillars of Nosgoth, Nosgoth's Wildnerness, Malek's Bastion and Outer Ruins, The Soul Machine, The Dragon Statue Soul Reaver Forge, The Demon Dimension / Hylden Realm, and more.
