A direct sequel to 1988’s side-scrolling brawler, this one pits siblings against each other in a war to control a crumbling kingdom. You play the younger brother armed with a magic axe while your traitorous sibling unleashes demons and traps across three distinct stages. Each level is a gauntlet of enemies, environmental hazards, and punishing platforming. The action feels punchy and responsive with limited health, forcing a balance between aggressive attacks and careful movement. Community ratings highlight its brutal difficulty and clever level design, particularly the third stage’s maze of spikes and enemies. Despite a 1990 release, the chunky sprite work and layered parallax backgrounds still give it a distinct retro charm. Though the single-player campaign is short at about three hours, the tight controls and punishing boss fights have kept it in the side-scrolling brawler pantheon. Best played on original hardware or compatible emulators to keep all the pixel-perfect timing intact.
